Day Trip: Get Lost at Long & Scott Farms

It doesn’t officially feel like fall until we’ve paid a visit to Long & Scott Farms. For nearly 50 years this 4th generation, family-owned farm has grown Zellwood Sweet Corn and now spans 1,200 acres of land about 40 minutes from Orlando.

You can head there and snag a few dozen cobs of corn at the Long & Scott Market, open Tuesday through Saturday 9 am – 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm – 5 pm, but we have a feeling something else will prompt you to head to Zellwood: Long & Scott’s legendary corn maze!

Each October the farm invites visitors to ‘get lost’ in the seven-acre corn maze, unveiled each year with a new design. Open weekends and select weekdays now through December 14, 2014, this marvelous outdoor attraction is a quintessential fall experience everyone needs to try at least once.

Upon arrival, those planning on conquering the maze will be given a flag and game sheet. Then it’s up to them to traverse the tricky route from start to finish.

In addition to the maze, families can check out the kids’ playground, jumping pillow (be sure to bring socks), Super Slide, bass fishing, hayrides, Mist Maze, and a smaller, three-acre maze ideal for young families. Some attractions have an extra fee.
