Eat and Drink Pink in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Local chefs and mixologists have pointed their culinary skills toward a great cause this month as restaurants all over the Orlando area add pink-inspired dishes and cocktails to their menu. Here are a few altruistic bites and drinks to check out:

Norman’s, Ritz-Carlton Orlando
A portion of sales from every Champomtini will be donated to Making Strides Orlando, an American Cancer Society walk taking place at Lake Eola Park on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The Champomtini blends PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur, Ketel One vodka and champagne.

The Ancient Olive
This Winter Park olive oil boutique is donating $1 for every bottle of single varietal EVOO sold through October 24th to Winter Park Memorial’s Pink Out Mammography fund.

Sweet Shops at these much-loved barbeque restaurants will feature a Strawberry Basil Bayou Bar (pictured right), a vanilla blondie bar with basil, topped with The Sweet Shop’s fresh strawberry house frosting. 100 percent of proceeds will go to Florida Hospital’s Breast Cancer Foundation during the month of October.

Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek
Guests get their choice of sumptuous offerings, all benefiting Breast Cancer Research and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, at this luxe resort near Disney. That list includes a Raspberry Margarita, ONEHope California Chardonnay, Vanilla or Chocolate Cup Cake, and a Pink Roll – a salmon sushi roll in pink soy paper available at deep blu seafood and grill.

Order the Phyllo Our Ta-Tas, a sweet nest of honey shredded house-made phyllo dough topped with strawberry custard and whipped cream, and 100 percent of proceeds will go to Florida Hospital’s Breast Cancer Foundation during the month of October.

Tommy Bahama
Tommy’s ‘think pink’ drink, a Hibiscus Lime Cooler, will be available at all 13 restuarautns across the US, including the location at Pointe Orlando. Made with fresh lime juice, vodka Cointreau and pink Hibiscus syrup, the drink, when purchased, translates into a $2 donation to the Garden of Hope & Courage, a sanctuary for those affected by cancer.

Pink Lady 3Four Seasons Resort Orlando
Four Seasons has created a special pink drink offered at Ravello Bar and Ravello restaurant. A portion of sales from every Pink Masquerade (shown right), a refreshing pink cocktail made with Luxardo and Creme de Cassis and a black currant liqueur, will benefit the Compassionate Hands and Hearts organization, an Orlando-based charity that provides assistance to patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Here’s the recipe so you can try this at home…

The Pink Masquerade
1.75 oz Hangar One Vodka
.5 oz Briottet Creme de Cassis
.5 oz lemon juice
.25 oz Luxardo Maraschino Cherry Liqueur
.25 oz Simple Syrup

Shake all ingredients and double strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.
