Hop on board the Tampa Bay Brew Bus on Saturday, March 22 for a tour of three local farms. The trek, which begins at 2pm at East End Market, will travel to Lake Meadow Naturals, Ocoee (Chicken & Egg Farm), Harvest Moon Farm, Ocoee (Vegetables & Goats), and A Natural Farms, Clermont (U-Pick Strawberries), culminating in a farm-to-table dinner back at East End.
“The tour will give locals a chance to learn about local farms and how they impact our community,” says Emily Rankin, the tour’s organizer and the owner of Local Roots. Attendees will get the chance to do things like harvest eggs and pick strawberries; in between stops they’ll be sipping Tampa Bay Brew Bus beer (which is brewed at Cigar City Brewing) on the 33-seat luxury bus.
Upon return, a dinner showcasing the day’s farm fare will be served outside amidst East End’s vegetable garden.
While guests will be doing a little bit of sampling throughout the day, Rankin suggests attendees bring a snack pack. Wine for the dinner will be available for purchase at the Local Roots store at East End.
“The goal is to make this a monthly event through May,” says Rankin. “And the point is to highlight what’s peak in season.”
