Here are some quick tips for food and fun in Orlando, including Oktoberfest, pairing dinners, and more.

The Florida panhandle is where a lot of peanuts are grown, and September is when the harvest gets started. You can always find boiled peanuts at the roadside stands, but digging into the Edible Orlando recipe files, you could also use Florida peanuts to whip up some chili crisp or sprinkle over baked fish with tropical salsa.
Are you ready for the next couple weeks? The whole reason you’re reading this is to learn what’s ahead for Central Florida food lovers. Edible Orlando writer John Graham sorts through all the bits of food fun you shouldn’t miss, so let’s get started!

We’ve got a new Oktoberfest party this year – Winter Parktoberfest. Organized by the Rotary Club of Winter Park, the party runs 5:30 – 10 p.m., in Mead Botanical Garden. German food is by Hollerbach’s with food trucks as well. Of course, you’ve got the beer garden, live polka bands, and competitions including stein hoisting, wurst yodeling, kraut eating, and pretzel fishing. The Dachshund Dash starts at 5:30 p.m., organized by the non-profit Florida Weiner Dog Derby. Both dachshunds and wannabees can register in advance. Winter Parktoberfest tickets are $28.52 (after taxes and fees) for adults with one free drink. Children over six are $12.51. Using the free shuttle parking would be a good idea.
